Leonardo DiCaprio may film scenes for ‘J. Edgar’ in Virginia this spring

Posted By Marcie on February 25th, 2011

We’ve been heard rumblings about a possible company move for J. Edgar from Los Angeles to Virginia in March before the film wraps, and now it looks like we might have confirmation (sort of).

Thought nothing’s official, today the Fauquier Times-Democrat in Warrenton, VA posted the following on their Facebook page:

In early April, Leonardo DiCaprio and director Clint Eastwood will do a week long shoot at a home near The Plains for a biopic on J. Edgar Hoover. DiCaprio plays Hoover. The home, just south of town, will be used for scenes of the Lindbergh baby abduction. Eastwood comes to Warrenton in late March to film general district court for a scene on the verdict for the baby’s killer.

The Plains is a small town located about 20 miles north of Warrenton, which is about an hour west of Washington D.C.

Stay tuned, hopefully we’ll get more information before the shoot starts! This just might be worth an On Location Vacation to Virginia!

DiCaprio Watch: Leo Finds the Next WWF Spokeswoman

Posted By Marcie on February 7th, 2011

When he’s not busy donating millions of dollars to help save endangered tigers, traveling around the world to advocate for tigers, or, oh, incidentally, starring in blockbuster and Oscar nominated films like Inception. Leonardo DiCaprio is out looking for the next big tiger activist. He’s also spending a lot of time on Twitter. And via Twitter, we’ve found out that DiCaprio has identified the next potential spokeswoman for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF)…in the form of a first-grade girl.

DiCaprio came across Bella’s first-grade video project, a video about the importance of saving the tigers, on YouTube. We can only hope that Leo was having a lonely evening and found himself surfing YouTube for videos of “always funny” viral gags when this happened. You can see the video after the jump, and it is, indeed, adorable.

Leonardo DiCaprio New Kissing Scenes In J. Edgar

Posted By Marcie on February 7th, 2011

Armie Hammer isn’t nervous about kissing Leonardo DiCaprio in new movie ‘J. Edgar’. The actor will play Clyde Tolson, an associate and rumored gay lover of Leonardo’s character, FBI director John Edgar Hoover, in the Clint Eastwood-directed biopic, but says he isn’t worried about the scenes because he knows they’re important to the film.

He told E! Online: “It’s not a kissing scene. It’s a ton of kissing scenes. I actually just met him for the first time Saturday at the DGA Awards. He’s a talented actor. I’m not nervous or afraid of it being awkward. The script is great. The scenes are in there for a reason.”

As well as Armie and Leonardo, Naomi Watts will star as Hoover’s secretary of 54 years Helen Gandy, who after his death destroyed his personal file containing incriminating material that he used to control powerful political figures.

Dame Judi Dench is set to star as Hoover’s mother, while ‘Gossip Girl’ star Ed Westwick is also part of the cast.

The film is set to be released at the end of 2012.

Armie Hammer’s “Excited” For “A Ton of Kissing Scenes” With Leonardo DiCaprio

Posted By Marcie on February 1st, 2011

Where can a movie as big as The Social Network lead an actor like Armie Hammer next? Puckering up with Leonardo DiCaprio!

Armie is preparing to star alongside Leo in Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar biopic, a film which has him kissing the Inception star!

“It’s not a kissing scene — it’s a ton of kissing scenes,” Armie revealed to E! News at the SAG Awards.

“I’m so excited to work with Clint, and from what I hear, he’s not the type of director who has a ton of rehearsals and takes,” he added. “I think we’re just sort of thrown in there and have to make it happen.”

But he has met with Leo and discussed the upcoming smooches!

“I actually just met [Leo] for the first time Saturday at the DGA Awards. Sure, we talked business,” he said with a laugh. “He’s a talented actor. I’m not nervous or afraid of it being awkward. The script is great. The scenes are in there for a reason. I’m really excited.”

“Yeah, you hear that, Leo?” he added. “Pucker up!”

And looks like this may be a pic of Armie meeting Leo at the DGA Awards!

Hammer And DiCaprio Will Wear Old-Age Makeup For Hoover

Posted By Marcie on January 9th, 2011

Armie Hammer is the cast member of The Social Network with perhaps the least famous name, but he’s experienced the same surge of career choices as all the other actors, and is getting ready to star in Clint Eastwood’s biopic Hoover alongside Leonardo DiCaprio. We already know many of the exciting details about the movie, which stars DiCaprio as former FBI chief J. Edgar Hoover and Hammer as his longtime assistant and romantic partner Clyde Tolson. Judi Dench is also on board to play Hoover’s mother, a casting move Hammer described to Vulture as “really perfect.”

And while they had him, Vulture also asked about how he’ll handle the scope of the film, which meets Toulson and Hoover as young men but follows them through to their 70s in flash-forwards. Instead of bringing in older actors, Hoover and DiCaprio will be handling the full life cycle:

“I’m playing Toulson up to his elderly age! Makeup stuff comes within the next couple weeks. We’re definitely doing a lot of wardrobe stuff right now, but the makeup stuff we haven’t done yet.”

Old age makeup is a huge gamble, of course- one bad prosthetic and you’ve ruined the effect entirely- but you’ve got to at least see it as a good omen that Hammer previously worked with David Fincher, who pioneered new aging techniques in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Yeah, sure, that’s a bit of a stretch, but with everything else about Hoover looking so promising, it seems silly to focus on the one thing that might be tough to pull off. Hoover starts shooting within the next few weeks, and given Eastwood’s famously fast production schedule, this sucker has “fall 2011 Oscar season” written all over it.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Next Love Interest? This Guy!

Posted By Marcie on December 8th, 2010

Some guys have all the luck.

Armie Hammer, who suited up as both Winklevoss twins in The Social Network, has been cast as J. Edgar Hoover’s protégé and rumored love interest in Clint Eastwood’s upcoming biopic, J. Edgar, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as the hard-charging FBI boss, E! News confirmed Wednesday.

And yes, there will be some kissing.

RELATED: The Social Network a serious Oscar contender

Hammer, 24, plays Clyde Tolson, who was associate director of the FBI under Hoover—and is now buried near him in the Congressional Cemetery in Washington, D.C.

Tolson died in 1975, three years after Hoover, whose ambiguous sexuality remains a subject of conversation to this day, 75 years after he became the founding director of the FBI.

And for everyone who’s more interested in Hoover’s life behind the desk than his life between the sheets, we hear that J. Edgar isn’t going to be riddled with guy-on-guy action.

“There is just smooching, no bedroom scenes,” a source says.
