Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio is known to be an avid art collector, and is regularly seen attending major art fairs throughout the US (see From Hollywood to the Art World, the New Celebrity Collectors). However, according to the Creators Project, rather than gracing the booths at New York’s fairs last week, DiCaprio has spotted his latest acquisition on Instagram and called the gallery to secure the piece.

The Copenhagen-based Gallery Poulsen posted an installation shot of their booth at New York’s PULSE art fair. A sci-fi inspired work, Nachlass (2015), by the Brooklyn artist Jean-Pierre Roy evidently caught the actor’s eye. A gallery employee reportedly confirmed the sale: “Leonardo spotted it on Instagram and bought it over the phone.”

The representative told the Creators Project that the piece was “a speculative work set in a beautiful landscape.”

According to the artist, his work is “often associated with science fiction and the post-apocalyptic.” Expounding on his practice, he added, “Previous work often focused on sublime optical phenomena and massive cataclysmic events as they present situations where the viewer is placed into a moment, where the natural world has reorganized itself into a beautiful, terrifying, and unfamiliar system of forces.”

DiCaprio’s growing collection is said to include artworks ranging from Oscar Murillo to Salvador Dalí.

There’s no shortage of beautiful Palm Springs homes one can rent for a weekend in the desert — but, trust us, this one deserves special attention. Curbed L.A. reports that for the hefty price tag of $4,500 per night you can stay in Leonardo DiCaprio’s sprawling desert compound. (Note: They’ve used the word compound instead of home , which you’ll understand when you click through our slideshow.)

Yes, the nightly rate is a little steep, but the house doesn’t disappoint. First, a little history: It was built in 1964 by famed modern architect Donald Wexler for Hollywood legend actress/singer Dinah Shore. The 7,022-square-foot property has six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a pool, tennis courts, a guest house, and daily housekeeping.

We know what you’re thinking: Why is Leo renting his house? Apparently, DiCaprio purchased the home last year for a reported $5.2 million, but he’s been too busy to use it. His loss is our gain, if only for a little viewing pleasure.

It was revealed last week that the 40-year-old actor is planning to co-produce and star in The Crowded Room as schizophrenic criminal Billy Milligan.

Now, according to The Mirror, he wants Umbrella singer Rihanna, 27 – real name Robyn Fenty – on board to play one of Milligan’s victims.

‘Leo has been working intensely on this project and chatting about it with Rihanna and they both think it would make sense for her to be in the movie,’ a source reportedly told the publication.

Adding: ‘They want to spend as much time together as possible and this would be a huge bonding experience as she’s already been helping with his research into the character.’

Netflix will team with the actor and his production company to produce a full-length documentary and a docu-series focusing on the environment and conservation.

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio is the latest high-profile name to partner with Netflix Inc, as he and his production company Appian Way will produce a documentary and a series that will premiere exclusively on the digital streaming service, the company said on Wednesday.

DiCaprio, who worked with Netflix NFLX -1.79% on the Oscar-nominated documentary “Virunga” about the Democratic Republic of Congo’s rare mountain gorillas, will act as a producer or executive producer for the projects that will focus on the environment and conservation.

“This partnership is a natural extension of our incredible relationship with Leo on ‘Virunga,’” Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, said in a statement.

Leonardo DiCaprio is getting closer to playing a role he’s eyed for nearly 20 years — that of Billy Milligan, who was the first person to successfully use multiple personality disorder as a defense in a court of law.

DiCaprio’s Appian Way has come aboard to produce The Crowded Room with New Regency, while Jason Smilovic and Todd Katzberg have been hired to write the adapted script. Smilovic’s credits include Lucky Number Slevin and Todd Phillips’ upcoming Arms and the Dudes at Warner Bros.

In addition to starring, DiCaprio will serve as a producer alongside Jennifer Davisson and Alexandra Milchan. Crowded Room further bolsters the relationship between DiCaprio and New Regency, who are currently in production together on The Revenant, director Alejandro G. Inarritu’s follow-up to New Regency and Fox Searchlight’s Oscar-winning Birdman.

The Crowded Room has been set up at New Regency for years, but never got off the ground (the project has been dormant for a decade). Smilovic’s hire gives renewed life to the adaptation of Daniel Keyes’ nonfiction tome about Milligan, who had 24 personalities. DiCaprio has been interested in playing him stretching back to 1997.

Published in 1981, Keyes’ book chronicles Milligan’s story, including his court trial in the late 1970s in Ohio after being charged with robbery and raping three women on the Ohio State University campus.

In the preparation of his defense, Milligan — who died in December 2014 — was diagnosed with multiple personality disorder. Pleading insanity, he and his lawyers contended that two of his alternate personalities committed the crimes without his knowledge. He was the first to use this defense, and the first to be acquitted for this reason.
