Martin Scorsese & Leonardo DiCaprio Developing ‘The Devil in the White City’ At Hulu With Paramount TV

The pair are exec producing the series, which is being developed at the digital platform by Paramount TV, alongside Rick Yorn, Emma Koskoff, Jennifer Davisson and Stacey Sher.

The development was announced on stage by Craig Erwich, Hulu’s SVP of originals, at TCA, where the network is promoting series including George Clooney’s Catch-22and comedy Shrill.

The Devil in the White City tells the true story of two men, an architect and a serial killer, whose fates were forever linked by The Chicago World’s Fair of 1893. It follows Daniel H. Burnham, a brilliant and fastidious architect racing to make his mark on the world and Henry H. Holmes, a handsome and cunning doctor who fashioned his own pharmaceutical “Murder Castle” on fair grounds – a palace built to seduce, torture and mutilate young women. The story takes the viewer on a tour of murder, romance and mystery in the gilded age.

DiCaprio bought the film rights to the book in 2010 and was previously set up with Scorsese to direct. Larson was repped in the Hulu deal by APA and the David Black Literary Agency.

It is the latest project for Paramount TV at Hulu following Looking for Alaska, which stars Kristine Froseth and Charlie Plummer and is produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.
