Leonardo DiCaprio Urges His Fans To ‘Adopt An Orphaned Orangutan’

Hollywood heavyweight Leonardo DiCaprio is urging his fans to support an animal rescue organization and ‘adopt’ an orphaned orangutan. The star – a self-described environmentalist who has invested in plant-based food company Beyond Meat – took to Instagram to share the message with his 21.9 million followers.

He encouraged people to virtually adopt the animals by sending money to the charity in return for photos and updates.

He reposted a message from International Animal Rescue saying: “We are caring for more than 100 rescued #orangutans, many of them orphaned after being cruelly taken from their mothers when they were only a few months old.

“By gifting an online adoption this Mother’s Day, you will be helping us to care for baby orangutans who have been left with nothing.”
