Where do we go from here?

Chapter One

Stefanie, Rose, and Rhonda! Three of the main characters of this story!!

Sixteen year old Rose DeWitt Bukater looked at the open book in front of her, and stared hard and long at it.

“Um..the..uh..American Revolution?” Rose guessed.

“That is correct” Mr. Stevens said with a smile, turning back to the chalkboard. Rose let out a sigh, and sat back in her chair. She turned to her friend Rhonda, and rolled her eyes.

Rhonda stuck out her hand and in it was a little piece of paper. Rose took it, and opened the little note:

Rose,
Only 178 days of school left! LoL. Hey, see the new kid? Isn’t he sooooooooo fine???
Rhonda

Rose looked to her left. A tall blonde haired, blue-eyed boy sat at the desk, slouching, looking like he was about to fall asleep. Rose had noticed him. She thought he was very fine, and he seemed nice. She kinda wanted to be his girlfriend, but he didn’t seem like the type to want a girlfriend. Plus, he had the heart of all the other girls in the school.

Rose picked up her pen, and wrote:

Rhonda,
Yeah! I want him!
Rose

Rhonda took the note from Rose, and opened it. Rose looked at Rhonda as she read what she wrote. Rhonda giggled and scribbled something quickly.

Rose,
What about your mom?
Rhonda

Rose turned to Rhonda with a puzzled look on her face.

Rhonda,
What about her?
Rose

They continued passing the note back and forth for the rest of class.

Rose,
He lives in the ghettos. Your mom wouldn’t want you to be with him.
Rhonda

Rhonda,
It’s not like I’m actually getting w/ him.
Rose

Rose,
Whatever you say.
Rhonda

Just as Rose finished reading the note, the bell rang, signaling the end of class.

“Before you go,” Mr. Stevens said as the students stood up, “homework will be pages ten through fifteen, section review numbers one through twenty.”

The students groaned as they piled out of the classroom into the hallway.

“So, school’s out..only 177 to go...” Rhonda said with a sigh.

“You’re not actually gonna keep count for the whole year, are you?” Rose asked, as she fiddled with her locker combination. The locker finally opened, and Rose took the things she would need for that night.

“I don’t know. I’ll stop once I get Fabrizio DiRossi,” Rhonda said with a grin. “I heard that he’s Jack Dawson’s best friend,” Rose said. Rhonda nodded, closing her own locker which was next to Rose’s. “Jack, Fabrizio, and Tommy Ryan are best friends,” Rhonda said, “they’re all cute too,” she added with a big grin.

Rose closed the locker, “You can’t stop talking about them, can you?” Rhonda shook her head, her brownish-red hair flying in her face. When she looked up, her smile turned into a frown.

“Oh look, there’s your ex-boyfriend,” she said. Rose turned and saw Caledon Hockley walk towards her with his group of friends.

“Hey, Rose. What’s up?” Cal asked. “Nothing,” Rose said coldly. She turned away, “Gotta go, bye.”

Rose half pushed, half dragged Rhonda with her to the outside of Southampton High, feeling the cool Southern California breeze kiss their faces. “You’re so mean!” Rhonda said. Rose shrugged, setting her backpack down on a lower step, “He deserves it.”

“Rose! Rhonda!” The two girls turned around to see their friend Stefanie walking towards them.

“Hey, Stef!” Rose said. Stefanie came and sat down next to her friends, and looked over at Tommy Ryan who was sitting with Jack and Fabrizio.

“Tommy’s cute,” Stefanie said, looking at her friends. Rose shrugged, “Yep, but I like Jack Dawson.” Stefanie nodded, “Yeah, he’s the finest, but look at that.” She nodded her head toward the trio, and they saw a senior girl walk up to Jack and start flirting.

“Dude,” Rhonda said, “Even we can’t compare to a senior.”

The senior finally stopped her giggling, and pranced away. Rose smiled as she watched Jack Dawson look at the senior with a funny expression on his face.

Maybe there is hope for us after all...? She said silently to herself.
