Chapter 2
First Officer Murdoch and Second Officer Lightoller strolled by and read the chart. "Well, it looks like me and you are in charge of invitations," said Mr. Murdoch. "I'll go and start printing out the guest list while you write out the invitations.
Mr. Lightoller turned to Mr. Murdoch with a smile on his face and said, "I'll be back."
Thirty minutes later, Fourth Officer Boxhall stepped into the conference room for a cup of coffee and saw Chief Officer Wilde sitting at the table reading the newspaper. "Hello, Mr. Boxhall," Mr. Wilde said as he folded the newspaper and laid it down on the table.
Mr. Boxhall said, "Hello, sir. I just read the chart and me and you are in charge of setting up tables and chairs in the ballroom. Let's go."
Mr. Murdoch was almost done with the guest list.
Mr. Lightoller said, Hey, I'm done filling out the invitations."
Mr. Murdoch smiled and said, "Thank you, sir."
Mr. Murdoch took all of the invitations and delivered them to the passengers with a smile on his face. "Hello?" said Mr. Murdoch as he knocked on the last door.
The door swung open and out came a little girl. It was Cora Cartmell from third-class.
"Daddy, there's one of the officers here!" shouted Cora as her daddy, Bert Cartmell, walked to the door.
"Hello, sir. How can I help you?" Bert said with a smile.
"Sir, the captain is planning a ball for everyone aboard for tomorrow night. You and your little girl are invited," said Mr. Murdoch as he gave the invitation to Bert.
Bert smiled and said, "Thank you, sir."
