Chapter 32

Over the next few days everything was going great. There were no problems what so ever.  Shanna and Richard were going pretty good.  James and his friends were behaving themselves and not getting into any trouble.  Sometimes Jed and Richard met up discussing the situation about the farmers.  He kept him informed and Richard was thankful that he let him know what was going on so he could get his family out before disaster struck.

Richard were are you?  Shanna called

Right here.  What is it? He was messing with something.

Oh nothing big darling. Just wanted to see where you were.  She walked closer to see what he was doing.

I am here. Just fixing this thing Jed gave me. But I don’t have steady hands.  He looked up at her.

Well what is it maybe I can help.  She got on her knees.

See this latch I got to put it on this.  He pointed what he needed to do.

She took it from his hands and fixed it.

Thanks. He said and kissed her.

No problem.  I am going to go get something to eat want anything? She liked that he finally had a hobby.

Yeah rice and fish are good.  He tested the walkie-talkie.

Ok be right back.  She went and left him.

Sal walked up to Shanna.

Hi Sal what’s up?  Shanna wondered what she had to bug her about this time.

Where’s Richard? I need to speak to him.  She demanded.

He’s in the hut.  Why what’s wrong?  Shanna looked at her concerned.

He hasn’t helped with the fishing lately and we need him.  Sal looked at Shanna.

Oh is that all I thought it was something way important.  Shanna’s mind eased.

That is important no fish no food.  Sal explained to her.

Well I told James to do the fishing isn’t he bringing any in? She looked at her with a weird expression.

No he hasn’t for the past two weeks.  Sal was getting angry by the minute.

What?  I will speak to him it’s unlike James to disobey me.  Shanna went walking pass her wondering what James had been doing all this time.

James was chatting with his friends.

James can I speak to you.  Shanna called.

Yeah sure mom.  What is it?  He went up to her looking kind of frustrated.

She walked away from the crowd.  He followed.

Sal just told me you haven’t been fishing these past two weeks what’s going on?  She rubbed her hands on her shorts.

I just haven’t been in the mood mom.  I want to go home we have been here for two months now it was fine in the beginning but now its seeming old.  He told her.

Ok do the others feel the same way?  She asked.

Pretty much yes.  We admit being out of school is cool.  But we wanna go.   I miss sleeping in my own bed.  He tried to explain to her.

You do understand we are leaving everything behind including Amanda.  She had to make that a point to him.

I can’t leave her mom.  I love her.  His stare turned into sadness.

She’s young James. She only 16.  It’s up to her parents not me.  She tried to let him down easy but if she knew her son he wouldn’t take no for an answer.

I know mom.  But if Sal let’s her go can she stay with us?  He asked her.

I don’t know let me think about it meanwhile please do the fishing or we will starve to death.  So much went through her mind she was wondering how she was gonna manage to fix everyone’s problems including her own.

All right mom the boys and I will get on it ASAP.  James told her going back to his friends.

Thanks James. I will see about our situation.  She told him from afar.

Thanks mom.  He yelled back.

Shanna went back to the hut to talk to Richard.

She peered inside hearing someone speak.

Come on Richard once more just one more time for old times sake.  Sal touched his arm.

I will not cheat on my wife again you understand that. Now leave I am busy.  He got away from her.

Shanna walked inside seeing Sal next to Richard.

Hi Sal.  I talked to James and don’t worry everything will be fine from now on.  Shanna stared at her with a look.

Ok thanks. I will be leaving now.  Sal walked passed her.

So what are you doing? Shanna went next to Richard glancing over his shoulder.

Nothing.  I just want to let you know I was never going to do it no matter how much she convinced or begged me. He looked up at her.

I know.  I heard everything.  You would think she would leave you alone.  She rubbed his shoulder kissing him.

You would think. Huh? He turned around and took her in his arms.

So how’s Mrs. Fischer today? He asked.

Doing well. Why?  She smiled.

I am sorry I haven’t been my normal self its just I guess I miss the old times at the base. He explained.

I understand there’s no harm.  As long as you come and sleep by my side.  She hugged him letting him know everything was all right.

I promise to always be there Shanna.  He held her tight.

I know you will Richard.  I trust you.  She kissed his chin.

Have you saw Etienne lately?  He asked.

No, I haven’t.  Why?  She wondered why he had brought that up.

Just asking I haven’t saw Françoise either lately.  He pulled away from her sitting down on the cot.

Richard how long you think we are going to stay here? She asked.

I don’t know why? He wondered why she had asked.

Because James and the boys want to go home. Shanna told him how James had felt.

They do? He was surprised.

Yes and I must admit I miss it too.  She tried to tell him.

Well umm if you really want to go with them I can arrange it.  But I am staying here till the mission is over.  He was insistent on staying there until the end.

Ok. If you feel you must then okay.  She hated to leave without him, but if she had to then she would.

Shanna don’t worry I’m a survivor all right.  He noticed she was worried about him.

Yes Rich but….  She was worried something awful might happen to him.

Don’t worry it will all be over by tomorrow I promise.   He hugged her close.

No it won’t and that’s why I worry.  She held him to her.

Shanna are you worried about Sal or Françoise?  He looked at her.

Maybe.  She knew she worried about him dying but she didn’t want him to be with anyone while she was away.

Look I promise you from this moment on I will not lay a hand on any woman except you.  Scout’s Honor.  He tied his fingers in front of her.

You sure?  She wondered about him sometimes.

Positive. He said smiling at her with that sexy smile.

She kissed him and hugged him so tight she prayed to god that he would survive this.

Shanna went for a walk that day.  She figured since Richard was busy she would get lost for a while.

Hey Beautiful?  Someone said.

Jed.   Hello how are you?  She said still freaked about how he affected her.

Fine. How are you?  He tipped his cigarette to the ground.

Very good.  She went walking on.

I am looking for Richard seen him?  He asked.

Yeah he’s fixing that gadget you gave him.  Shanna stopped and talked to him figuring there was no harm.

Aw yeah he was always good fixing things.  Jed remembered.

So what are you doing out here?  He asked.

Nothing just wondering around why? Shanna wondered what business it was of his for him to know anything about her.

Cause it’s kinda dangerous to be here especially out here.  He wandered closer to her.

Jed heard something come through the bushes so he took hold of Shanna and kissed her.

She didn’t move but responded to his kiss.

When he saw whom it was he looked at Richard in a nervous way.

Richard?  He pulled apart from Shanna.

Hey Jed why were you kissing my wife?  He looked at him with a mad stare.

I thought you were the farmers.  Jed explained.

Ah.  I fixed it.  He said giving it to Jed.

Great now I can call home base. Thanks Rich.  Jed took the walkie-talkie from him.

No problem. Richard said.

Hey Rich a little bit of advice.  Jed had felt the passion in Shanna’s kiss.

Yeah what?  Richard turned back.

Pay attention to your wife.  He said and went away.

Richard took Shanna by the hand leading her into the deep into the forest.

Rich what did he mean by pay attention to me you always do.  She told him.

He meant this.  He took hold of her kissing her intensely.  It had been so long since he had been with his wife he forgot what it felt like to even feel this way.

He pulled away from her and she closed her eyes cherishing the feeling.

He pulled the hair away from her face trailing his hand down her chest.  She shivered at his touch.

Shanna? He said.

Yes.  She opened her eyes.

I’m sorry for not being there when you needed me.  He had noticed her reactions.

It’s all right I would wait forever.  She couldn’t help but thinking of him naked.

You shouldn’t have too.  You deserve sex more than once a week.  He took her hand kissing it.

It’s ok Richard really.  His kisses sent shivers up her spine.

Shanna when we were here on the island before James was born we use to do it almost everyday.  He reminded her.

Things change Richard really I am fine with what we are doing now.  She was glad to have him by her side just now.

I just want you to know I love you and that no matter what I am doing I always think of you.  He told her putting his hand on her face caressing it.

I know you love me.  She felt his love everyday.

He took her hand not saying a word.

She followed him back to the med hut.  He put her hands around his neck and he kissed her. Trailing even more kisses down her body.

She loved the feeling it made her go insane with need.

He could hear her breathing and he felt the same way.

He laid her down staring at her from above.  He removed his clothes and she looked at him like he was something she never saw before.  He picked her up and put her on the gurney and pulled her shirt off.  She looked at him in hunger and kissed his lips fiercely.

He unbuckled her shorts and eased them off her slender hips. And in one slick move he stuck himself inside her.

She moaned loudly loving the feeling of him.  She looked at him while he moved inside her.  Holding on to his shoulders.  His heart pounded, the look in his eyes made her feel so incredibly in love. 

He laid her down enjoying the feeling moving even faster than before making her scream.

When the moment had finally came. Fireworks exploded inside her and in him too.

He kissed her before turning on his side breathing hard.

Oh Richard that was amazing.  She whispered trying to breath.

It was.  I swear as soon as I regain myself we are doing this again.  He promised her. 

She put her leg over his hip hugging him close to her.

Françoise walked in seeing the two together.

Sorry you two but something has come up.  She looked at Shanna and Richard naked and turned around so they could dress.

Shanna and Richard got dressed.  Their breathing finally returning to normal.

Shanna turned Françoise around.

What is it Françoise?  Shanna asked.

We found a man he look’s hurt.  Françoise explained.

Shanna looked at Richard they knew exactly who it had been.

Show me where.  Shanna said.

Françoise took Shanna and Richard to Jed.

He was beat up and shot.

Richard they know.  You must get out of here.  He warned him.   Jed tried to speak.

Richard picked him up and took him to the med hut.

Shanna put on a makeshift coat to prevent the blood from spraying on her.

She ripped off his shirt with a scalpel.  He looked awfully bad.

He was shot in the chest on the right side and he had a few gashes on his face.

Shanna took care of the worst damage and then repaired the rest.

He looked awful and she was glad someone had found him because he would have surely died.

He spoke to her.

Thank you for helping me.  He held her hand.

Don’t worry I think you will be all right.  She told him.

Now I know why Richard loves you and why he won’t let you go.  He smiled at her.

You should get some rest.  She told him leaving him to rest.

He closed his eyes.

Shanna went to Richard to tell him what was going on.

Rich.  She called.

Yeah how is he?  He asked.

He’s fine but he needs rest.   She explained to him.

Oh good I thought he was a goner.  Richard said.

He almost was if Françoise didn’t find him in time.  You can go see him if you want he might be asleep though I gave him a sedative.  She tried to wipe the blood off her.

All right thanks darling.  He kissed her lips.

She went to the makeshift shower to clean off the blood.  When someone grabbed her she tried to fight her attacker off but with no luck they knocked her out.
