4 months later, Rose was now 7 months pregnant. She wasn’t working anymore because the rhythm of the hospital was too much for her condition, and she needed to rest as much as possible, according to the doctor’s recommendations.
Mia had already recovered from her loss; Jonathan had forgiven her and they were now officially dating. As for Jack, after his divorce with Alicia, he moved and Rose lost her contact with him.
Rose was at home, alone, reading a magazine, when the doorbell rang. She opened the door and it was Alicia, with a huge belly like her.
“Alicia…” Rose said surprised
“Hi Rose…do you mind if I come in? Is that my back is killing me…” Alicia said
“Sure…come in…” Rose said
They went to the living room.
“Can I offer you anything?” Rose asked
“No thanks…” Alicia said “Do you know the sex already?”
“Yes…it’s a boy…” Rose happily said “And you?”
“It’s a girl…another one…” Alicia said
“Aww so sweet…Stella will be happy to have a sister…”
“That’s exactly about this that I want to talk to you…”
“I am all ears…”
“Stella is not Jack’s daughter…” Alicia revealed
“I…I don’t know what to say…” Rose said shocked
“I understand…Stella is daughter of a man…a relationship I had when Jack left me…and this man refused to assume Stella as his daughter…and I was desperate…so I thought that it was a way of bringing Jack back to me…I know what you must be thinking Rose…that I am a bitch…and I really am…I agree with your thoughts and I recognize it…”
“Alicia I…”
“No…let me try to get this out…this baby is not Jack’s either…I met a man and he is the father…he is willing to marry me and give the baby his name…we are in love…and I don’t think it’s fair to lie to Jack anymore…besides I know your baby is Jack’s son….don’t tell me it’s not because I know it is…and you may not believe but I am sorry for all I put you through…I know how much you love Jack and he loves you the same way and you deserve to be together…so I am just letting you know that you’re free to finally be together…”
“Have you told him about Stella?”
“No…I still don’t know how to tell him…and Stella loves him…it will be so hard to tell them the truth…I just don’t know how to say that to them…I was counting with your help…”
“Alicia…Jack and I don’t have anything…it’s over and he just…I won’t lie to you since you’re being so honest with me…I love him still and this is his baby…but he doesn’t know…he thinks it’s other’s baby…and I…”
“Rose…I am here to help you…believe me…I know how you feel…and I am finally understanding that he always loved you and he only stayed with me because of Stella…but now Stella is not his daughter and we’re not married anymore…so he’s free for you and for your baby...it’s not your fault…you always acted right…you sacrificed your life and your happiness for my daughter and will always be thankful for that…”
“Alicia I appreciate what you’re doing for me but…I can’t come to Jack now and tell him that this baby is his and everything will be alright…”
“You don’t have to…I already did it for you…” Alicia said with a smile
“What are you talking about?” Rose asked confused
Alicia stood up and walked to the door, opened it and waved at somebody. Then Mia entered followed by Linda, Stella and Jack. Rose couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
“Are you trying to kill me?” Rose said standing up
“No mom…we’re trying to bring you back to life…” Mia said smiling
“Jack…you too…what are you doing here?” Rose asked
“Something I should’ve done a long time ago…” he said approaching her
Jack touched her face and then her belly. Discreetly Mia, Linda and Alicia left them alone.
“I am sorry…” Rose said
Jack placed his fingers on her lips.
“Shhh…it’s over now…” he said and kissed her
“Do you forgive me?” Rose asked
“There’s nothing to forgive…I am the one who should be asking you this…” he said kissing her again
“I can’t believe this is happening…I hope I am not dreaming…” she said smiling
“You’re not dreaming…and to prove you that…” he said putting his hand on his pocket “I have something for you…” he said taking a small box out of it
“What is this?” Rose asked
“Open it…”
She opened and it was a gorgeous ring. Rose was astonished.
“Rose DeWitt Bukater Hockley…will you marry me?”
“Yes…” Rose said with tears in her eyes
“Great!” Jack said smiling
They kissed. Looked like all their problems were gone and happiness had finally came for them.
