Leonardo DiCaprio looking for UK home and lady

Posted By melissa on July 31st, 2009

Leonardo DiCaprio is after an English country pile – with room for some British totty. And the Titanic star has turned to none other than Guy Ritchie for some advice on house (and woman) hunting.

Since his split from girlfriend Bar Rafaeli, he wants a clean break from their past and is ready to start afresh.

So he met up with his new pal at Guy’s pub The Punchbowl on Tuesday to pick his brains. Leo, who is filming The Inception, said: “I love England. I’ve got so many friends here and I’m fed up of going between hotels all the time while I’m filming.”

The lads then headed to Whisky Mist’s first birthday party. Over £10,000 worth of Patron tequila and Cristal champagne, Leo was heard saying: “Can you find me a British lady too.”

You know our number, Leo…

Forget Leonardo DiCaprio! Bar Refaeli finds love with new multi-millionaire boyfriend Teddy Sagi

The best way to get over your rich ex-boyfriend? Date someone richer.

That may be how supermodel Bar Rafaeli is recovering from her breakup with actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

Just weeks after their relationship ended, Rafaeli was spotted cozying up with multi-millionaire Teddy Sagi, 34, at a Britney Spears concert earlier this week, the Daily Mail reports.

With an estimated fortune of $500 million, Sagi, a gambling company founder, is among Israel’s top 30 richest men, according to Forbes magazine.

His firm Playtech was floated on the London Stock Exchange and is currently worth around $1.3 billion dollars. That puts the estimated $45 million DiCaprio earned last year to shame.

Rafaeli, 24, rose to fame in 2007 when she became the first Israeli model to appear in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.

She and DiCaprio, 34, started dating in 2005, but the romance reportedly ended last month because DiCaprio thought the model was getting too serious.

“She wanted to move faster than he did, she wanted to move in together, so he broke it off,” a source dished to People.com.

Meanwhile, DiCaprio, who is currently filming “Inception” in London, seems to be enjoying his newly single status.

The actor has been flanked by female admirers, including blonde Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts, at a number of celebrity hangouts across the pond.

Leonardo DiCaprio has fuelled rumours he has split from girlfriend Bar Refaeli after he was overheard telling pals he was “definitely single”.Reports the couple had broken up surfaced last month after the Israeli supermodel allegedly grew tired of DiCaprio’s reluctance to commit. The pair shot down the rumours by putting on a united front during a Los Angeles shopping spree just a few days later. But the Titanic actor has again hinted he has split from Refaeli, by reportedly hitting the the town in London claiming he was a single guy.A source tells The London Paper, “There was a queue of ladies trying to get near Leonardo – he even had a special security guard with him, just to keep them at bay.”Leonardo was telling people he was definitely single, but he wasn’t interested in any of the women trying to get his attention.”

DiCaprio In Fan Car Chase Drama

Leonardo DiCaprio was involved in a high speed car chase over the weekend (11-12Jul09) – when a group of female fans tailed him across London. The star is in the British capital to film new movie Inception, and enjoyed a night out at the city’s Jalouse nightclub with pals on Sunday. He was surrounded by a gaggle of fans eager to catch a glimpse of him in the club – but the attention didn’t stop when he left the hotspot. A group of overeager women followed DiCaprio by car – and it took the skill of his driver to lose them. A source tells The London Paper, “It was crazy. There was a car full of of women chasing Leonardo’s car. His driver was desperately trying to shake them off. In the end he managed to lose them.”

Chris Nolan’s Inception Comes To London

Posted By melissa on July 18th, 2009

Forget about Batman 3 folks, seriously you’ll be much happier if you do, because Batman director Chris Nolan is currently working on another little gem for Warner Bros – Inception – and Inception has come to London!

The star studded project features Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Cillian Murphy, Ken Watanabe and Michael Caine and is currently being described as “contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.”

The film crew have been spotted in and around the prestigious University College London shooting “Oliver’s Arrow”, which is the codename that Inception is currently shooting under. According to a source on the IMDB boards:

The film crew for “Oliver’s Arrow” today invaded UCL’s Wilkins building to film some scenes in various locations within the Main Library. Michael Caine, Leonardo di Caprio and Ellen Page were on location filming scenes in what had been dressed up (with fake signage) to be the “Bibliotheque” of the “Ecole de Architecture” in France.

From what I could gather from the scene being shot in the Flaxman Gallery (I couldn’t hear much), Leonardo di Caprio’s character was being introduced to a graduate student named Ariadne (played by Ellen Page) by Michael Caine’s character, who tells Ariadne that Leo’s character has a job offer for her. (That wasn’t too confusing)

Other scenes were being shot in a lecture theatre and a reading a room and some of the library’s corridors.

Michael Caine looked like he was playing a similar character to the one he always plays lately, Ellen Page looked like a plucky young student, and Leo di Caprio just looked moody and “focussed” (toying with the toothpick-in-between-the-teeth look).

The source has also said that filming was one day only, and so is not thought to include any big scenes. I have to admit that I have very high hopes for this production, I wasn’t a huge fan of The Prestige (shot between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight) but this is looking very promising. If Warners have handed over a $200 million budget as recently reported, then they obviously they’re of the same mind.

What do you think? Expecting big things from Nolan or is this film already falling victim to over-hype?

Leonardo Breaks For a Bike Ride

Posted By melissa on July 18th, 2009

Leonardo DiCaprio took his bike for a ride around London yesterday after grabbing lunch at Fifty. Staying true to his environmentalism, Leo is doing his part to stay eco-friendly while he’s in town filming Inception. His next movie, Shutter Island, hits theaters in October which means Leo has some time to enjoy the rest of the Summer before heading back to the states for his promotional duties.

DiCaprio’s ‘Low Dweller’ May Have Found a Director

Posted By melissa on July 18th, 2009

It’s been a few months since we’ve heard an update on The Low Dweller, a co-production between Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way and his Body of Lies director Ridley Scott’s Scott Free production houses. What attracted Leo and Ridley to the project was a script that had a fair percentage of Hollywood salivating. So it’s interesting that the film might be turned over to an inexperienced director.

The Hollywood Reporter says that commercial director Rupert Sanders is in negotiations for The Low Dweller. Perhaps you’ve seen his work for the Wolverine and Halo 3 video games and Monster.com. Sanders is also attached to the remake of The Wild Geese.

The script that started all of this is by Brad Ingelsby, and it’s about a man released from prison and is haunted by a “figure from his past.” It has apparently been compared to No Country for Old Men, and boy, that’s a dangerous precedent to set for a movie by an unknown director with a script by a writer with very few credits.

DiCaprio will definitely produce (one of the more than 20 projects he currently has in development), and he is apparently set to star as well. That could either take some pressure off the new director or heap a whole lot more on him.

POLL: Who Should Play Frank Sinatra?

Posted By melissa on May 27th, 2009

The race is on in Hollywood to play Ol’ Blue Eyes.

Oscar winner Martin Scorsese will be directing and producing a biopic about legendary singer Frank Sinatra, who died in 1998 at age 82. The hot-tempered Sinatra led a famously colorful life: He wed four times (including to movie stars Ava Gardner and Mia Farrow), had early ties to organized crime, and starred in 50-plus movies, including the original Rat Pack extravaganza, Ocean’s Eleven, as well as From Here to Eternity, for which he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

The role of Sinatra has yet to be cast, but the early favorite is Leonardo DiCaprio, who has made three films with Scorsese, including Shutter Island, which opens this fall. Another possible contender: Johnny Depp. Respected film industry blogger Nikki Finke reports he’s the choice of the sponsoring studio, Universal. Neither actor is known for his warbling abilities, but that doesn’t matter because the film, which has the cooperation of the Sinatra estate, will use the crooner’s original recordings.

Other possible contenders? Justin Timberlake, who actually can sing and has the right hungry look. Tween heartthrob Joe Jonas has the pipes and the right look. Or maybe even Twilight’s Robert Pattinson, if he loses the fangs and nails a New Jersey accent.

John Martorano flick is on Martin Scorsese’s drawing board

Posted By melissa on May 27th, 2009

Now don’t breathe a word of this. Because nobody’s supposed to know. But word from the Left Coast is that the man behind the controversial John Martorano movie is none other than gangster-filmmaker extraordinaire Martin Scorsese!

We hear that Scorsese met secretly with the Winter Hill Gang hitman at an Italian restaurant in the Back Bay while “The Departed” director was in town making “Shutter Island.”

Movie stars help Titanic survivor

Posted By melissa on May 27th, 2009

Movie stars Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio have helped pay towards the nursing home fees of the last Titanic survivor, the fund’s chairman said.

The actors, along with director James Cameron, are thought to have donated $30,000 (£22,000) after being asked to help 97-year-old Millvina Dean.

Miss Dean from the New Forest was nine weeks old when the liner sank in 1912.

She is struggling with monthly bills of £3,000 and is in danger of losing her room at her Southampton nursing home.

Lend support

She has been forced to auction personal belongings and memorabilia associated with the disaster to cover her care costs.

The Millvina Fund has now been set up to support her and Irish author Don Mullan, a friend of Miss Dean, approached the stars to lend their support.

Mr Mullan said: “I laid down the challenge to the Titanic actors and directors to support the Millvina Fund and I was delighted with the generosity they have shown in meeting that challenge.”

Miss Dean was the Titanic’s youngest passenger. Her father, Bertram Dean, died in the 1912 tragedy after saving the lives of his wife and two children.

Miss Dean’s mother returned from New York with her children to Southampton, where Miss Dean has spent most of her life.

The Millvina Fund was launched in Belfast on Monday, where the Titanic was built.
