Newly-single Leonardo DiCaprio floats Blake Lively’s boat in Cannes
Everyone knows Leo is quite the Lothario when it comes to charming ladies on boats – just ask Kate Winslet.
And today the newly-single Titanic star wasted no time wooing Gossip Girl Blake Lively aboard a yacht in the French Riviera.
The flighty pair put on a very affectionate display, embracing and laughing together. Meanwhile, very close by, Leo’s ex Bar Refaeli made another solo red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.
Keeping Britain’s special effects dream alive
There is a scene in the movie Inception where James Cobb, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, goes on a recruiting mission.
He is looking for an “architect” – someone who can design dreams.
The job is not just about making money, he says, but “the chance to build cathedrals, entire cities, things that never existed. Things that couldn’t exist in the real world.”
It is an enticing pitch, and one that could be applied to another, more attainable profession.
Special effects post-production is the business of creating on film, things that were not there when the camera rolled.
When Iron Man dons his suit, or the Batmobile turns into the Batbike, you are watching this craft in action.
But what romantics chalk-up to “movie magic” is often the product of many hundreds of people, endlessly pushing pixels around computer screens.
That makes it an industry, and one in which the UK is a world leader.
*Note* – BBC made an error Leo’s name in Inception is Dominic not James.

Leonardo DiCaprio may film scenes for ‘J. Edgar’ in Virginia this spring
We’ve been heard rumblings about a possible company move for J. Edgar from Los Angeles to Virginia in March before the film wraps, and now it looks like we might have confirmation (sort of).
Thought nothing’s official, today the Fauquier Times-Democrat in Warrenton, VA posted the following on their Facebook page:
In early April, Leonardo DiCaprio and director Clint Eastwood will do a week long shoot at a home near The Plains for a biopic on J. Edgar Hoover. DiCaprio plays Hoover. The home, just south of town, will be used for scenes of the Lindbergh baby abduction. Eastwood comes to Warrenton in late March to film general district court for a scene on the verdict for the baby’s killer.
The Plains is a small town located about 20 miles north of Warrenton, which is about an hour west of Washington D.C.
Stay tuned, hopefully we’ll get more information before the shoot starts! This just might be worth an On Location Vacation to Virginia!

Baz Luhrmann to film Great Gatsby with Leonardo DiCaprio in Sydney

BAZ Luhrmann has signed a deal to remake one of the most iconic movies of all time, The Great Gatsby, in Sydney.
In a coup for the Australian film industry and the NSW government of Kristina Keneally, Luhrmann has brushed New York – where the classic tale is set – and will instead shoot a 3D version in NSW.
The Sunday Telegraph can reveal the State Government signed off on a production deal with Luhrmann early on Friday morning.
Luhrmann has already secured Leonardo DiCaprio to play Jay Gatsby in the F. Scott Fitzgerald story, one of the film industry’s most anticipated projects.
It will be the first time Luhrmann and DiCaprio have worked together since the Oscar-nominated Romeo + Juliet in 1996.
DiCaprio, who commands $20 million a movie, will reprise the role made famous by Robert Redford in 1974, with 25-year-old British actress Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, played by Mia Farrow in the original.
Tobey Maguire is tipped to play young bachelor Nick Carraway, rounding out an all-star cast.
The production will provide a much-needed boost to the struggling local film industry.
It’s also a gamble for Luhrmann, whose last movie, Australia, was a box-office flop internationally and who needs another hit like Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge (2001) to his name.
The Warner Bros-backed film will be produced at Sydney’s Fox Studios and will be the first live-action 3D movie shot in NSW.
Filming will begin in August and last 17 weeks before 30 weeks of post-production.
Luhrmann and his wife Catherine Martin will re-create famous New York and Long Island landmarks from the 1920s.
The tale of doomed love has been filmed six times, the most famous being the 1974 Francis Ford Coppola-penned version starring Redford and Farrow.
Mulligan, who beat Gossip Girl star Blake Lively and Amanda Seyfried for the role, burst into tears when Luhrmann phoned her and said: “Hello, Daisy Buchanan.”
Before he signed a deal to bring the movie to Sydney, Luhrmann, who is in the US, had been tipped to choose New York or possibly Europe to shoot the film.
Premier Kristina Keneally said the deal would inject more than $120 million into the NSW economy.
Ms Keneally said it had come at a good time for the local film industry, which had suffered from the strong Australian dollar.
With the location set, Luhrmann will begin pre-production as early as next month.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way Retelling ‘Dracula’ As ‘Harker’
Finally, a new Dracula film for vampire fans to sink their teeth into. With sexy, angsty teen vampires infiltrating our pop culture, it seems like it’s been a while since there’s been some hardcore stake and holy water style vamp films released.
Well, no longer. According to Deadline, Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way will produce an upcoming adaptation of Bram Stoker’s novel called “Harker” for Warner Bros.
Unlike previous incarnations of the book, “Harker” will focus on Scotland Yard detective Jonathan Harker who is tracking Dracula. The script sets him up as a potential new franchise character. And no, before you ask, DiCaprio is not planning to star in the film.
In the 1897 novel, Harker is actually a solicitor who travels to Transylvania to act as a real estate agent for a foreign client named Count Dracula. While there, he finds himself a prisoner of Dracula, who reveals himself as a vampire. After a traumatic experience with Dracula’s three vampire brides, Harker manages to escape and finds refuge at a mental hospital, where he suffers a breakdown. His fiancée, Mina Murray, finds him and nurses him back to help, and he successfully joins forces with vampire hunter Van Helsing to kill Dracula once and for all.

DiCaprio Watch: Leo Finds the Next WWF Spokeswoman
When he’s not busy donating millions of dollars to help save endangered tigers, traveling around the world to advocate for tigers, or, oh, incidentally, starring in blockbuster and Oscar nominated films like Inception. Leonardo DiCaprio is out looking for the next big tiger activist. He’s also spending a lot of time on Twitter. And via Twitter, we’ve found out that DiCaprio has identified the next potential spokeswoman for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF)…in the form of a first-grade girl.
DiCaprio came across Bella’s first-grade video project, a video about the importance of saving the tigers, on YouTube. We can only hope that Leo was having a lonely evening and found himself surfing YouTube for videos of “always funny” viral gags when this happened. You can see the video after the jump, and it is, indeed, adorable.

Leonardo DiCaprio New Kissing Scenes In J. Edgar
Armie Hammer isn’t nervous about kissing Leonardo DiCaprio in new movie ‘J. Edgar’. The actor will play Clyde Tolson, an associate and rumored gay lover of Leonardo’s character, FBI director John Edgar Hoover, in the Clint Eastwood-directed biopic, but says he isn’t worried about the scenes because he knows they’re important to the film.
***
He told E! Online: “It’s not a kissing scene. It’s a ton of kissing scenes. I actually just met him for the first time Saturday at the DGA Awards. He’s a talented actor. I’m not nervous or afraid of it being awkward. The script is great. The scenes are in there for a reason.”
***
As well as Armie and Leonardo, Naomi Watts will star as Hoover’s secretary of 54 years Helen Gandy, who after his death destroyed his personal file containing incriminating material that he used to control powerful political figures.
Dame Judi Dench is set to star as Hoover’s mother, while ‘Gossip Girl’ star Ed Westwick is also part of the cast.
The film is set to be released at the end of 2012.

Leo DiCaprio loves ‘The Millionaire Matchmaker’
Looks like a certain Hollywood millionaire is a titanic fan of Patti Stanger.
“At Laker game, I hear a voice: ‘Love your show.’ It’s gorgeous Leonardo DiCaprio,” the “Millionaire Matchmaker” star tweeted on Sunday. “I have officially died and gone to heaven.”
She’s not the only one. Following that tweet, one of Stanger’s followers wanted in on the action and asked to be added to Stanger’s database if DiCaprio becomes a client.
“Uh, that would be ‘no,’” responded Stanger, “because he already has the hottest Jewish girl alive: Bar [Refaeli].”
Indeed, Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Refaeli, 25, has been dating DiCaprio, 36, since 2005. But it’s nice to know that if things don’t work out, he’s got Stanger to help him get back into the dating game.
“The Millionaire Matchmaker” airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
